The Challenge The Oil & Gas Player objective was to reduce unplanned production stops and lower maintenance costs by implementing a robust condition monitoring program. A failure on a critical asset like a water injection pump can halt production, leading to significant financial losses. Periodic manual measurements might miss the rapid degradation of a component, making a continuous, automated solution necessary for such equipment. The company required a reliable 24/7 monitoring solution, capable of providing real-time alerts and remote diagnostics, without requiring constant on-site human intervention.
The Solution Acoem deployed a wireless online monitoring solution combined with cloud connectivity and remote analysis, complementing the customer’s existing periodic monitoring program. The solution involved the installation of the ACOEM EAGLE wireless monitoring system with: 4 EAGLE sensors installed on the water injection pump 2 additional sensors installed on adjacent piping The system was configured to perform three measurements per day. Collected data is transmitted to the Acoem Cloud platform, enabling secure remote access and continuous analysis by maintenance teams and Acoem experts. The system also integrates ACCUREX™ automatic diagnostic AI, providing automated analysis of the pump’s vibration data and identifying potential faults. This architecture delivers several advantages: Wireless installation, eliminating extensive cabling in a hazardous environment Cloud-based data access, enabling remote monitoring from anywhere AI-assisted diagnostics, reducing the need for constant manual data interpretation Scalable monitoring, easily expandable to additional assets Together, these technologies provide 24/7 surveillance of critical equipment, ensuring rapid detection of emerging faults.
The Results The EAGLE system proved its effectiveness by providing a critical early warning that prevented a major component failure. In March 2025, the system detected a sudden and dramatic increase in high-frequency vibration levels and shock indicators on the pump. The trend data clearly showed the asset entering a critical state. Thanks to cloud connectivity and remote analysis, Acoem experts were able to review the data and issue a recommendation to replace the bearing immediately. Based on the automated alarm, ACOEM issued a recommendation to replace the bearing immediately. When the Oil & Gas Player & Prom team performed a visual inspection, they identified the root cause: a lubrication failure caused by a leak at the seal ring. This timely detection allowed them to address the lubrication issue and plan the bearing replacement, preventing a complete breakdown and saving the asset. The Impact The success of this deployment has reinforced the Oil & Gas Player’s confidence in Acoem’s connected monitoring solutions. By combining wireless sensors, cloud connectivity, AI diagnostics, and remote analysis, the company has validated a modern and scalable approach to asset reliability. This shift allows maintenance teams to move from reactive interventions to proactive maintenance, supported by real-time data and expert insights. Following this success, the Oil & Gas Player has expanded its collaboration with Acoem. As of late 2025, additional EAGLE wireless monitoring systems are being deployed across multiple sites in Gabon, extending the scope of the company’s continuous monitoring strategy.
