A supercar manufacturer needed a new curing and marriage fixture for a low volume, high value vehicle programme, where there's no room for rework. The curing process had to be controlled and evidenced, and the marriage operation brought together expensive, awkward assemblies that couldn't tolerate misalignment. Rather than coordinate separate design, panel build, installation and software contractors, the client wanted one supplier to take the whole controls scope end to end.
We delivered the full controls scope in house: electrical design (panel layout, schematics, cable schedules, field installation drawings, safety circuit built in from the design stage), a single control panel manufactured and tested in our workshop, the electrical installation on the fixture itself, and the PLC software on Siemens. The curing cycle is timer controlled with pressure monitored through the clamping sequence, and the marriage operation is interlocked so it can't be driven out of order or released early. Keeping everything under one roof meant the engineers writing the software and commissioning the system were working from their own drawings and their own wiring, which cut fault finding time right down.
The system was commissioned at our Midlands facility and passed its factory acceptance test first time, with no functional issues raised. That mattered because the fixture then shipped to Italy for installation, where any outstanding issue would have been far more expensive and slow to fix. The design, panel, installation and software all agreed with each other before the client ever saw it running.
