What UKCA is
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark is the UK product marking introduced after Brexit to indicate conformity with applicable Great Britain regulations. It covers most products previously needing CE marking for the GB market, including machinery, electrical equipment, PPE, toys and pressure equipment. For most goods, manufacturers can still use CE marking for sale in Great Britain under ongoing recognition arrangements, but UKCA remains the GB conformity route.
Why UKCA matters
- Required (or permitted alongside CE) for most regulated products placed on the GB market.
- Demonstrates compliance with the relevant GB designated standards.
- Required to be affixed by the manufacturer, with a UK Declaration of Conformity on file.
- May require involvement of a UK-approved body for higher-risk product categories.

- 4
For products sold into both GB and EU, plan for parallel UKCA and CE assessments.
